The amount of Life present in healthy soil is an immensely complex food-web of activity ranging from virtually un- detectable microorganisms to large earthworms. It has been discovered that healthy soil teaming with life generally contains anywhere from 3%-5% organic matter. However, due to many modern agricultural practices the life in the soil has been starved and levels of organic matter have dropped to less than ½% in many areas. As many of these microorganisms eat up to 40 times their weight through the soil each day, the biochemical by-products of these organisms unlock a vast amount nutrient rich soil available for plant take up. In addition to unlocking nutrients in the soil, these vast armies of beneficial microorganisms create other secondary metabolites, enzymes, and plant stimulants.

More times than not most of the focus is given to providing plants with the correct level of macronutrients while many other essential plant growth metabolites, enzymes, and stimulants are severely lacking.
